Artisan Production Log

/5/17 - In todays lesson we were all assigned into our separate groups for filming in different areas for the installation project. My group have been tasked with staying in the college and filming in the Artisan restaurant with other media students from level 2.  Our objective is to help some students from level 2 and give them a little taste of the work they will be doing in media level 3, we will be going around different places of the Artisan and filming some of the restaurant and the people working there to put in the final presentation day at the end of the college year.

/5/17 - Today we started planning what shots we need to film in the restaurant and how we want it to look by discussing and storyboarding each type of shot we want to film to make the video look as professional as possible. We also watched some videos of presentation day videos from previous years students from other colleges in order to take some inspiration. There was a lot of example videos that used slo motion in their footage that we took into account for when we would film in the Artisan restaurant. We all went up to see the restaurants manager to ask if it would be possible to film and what dates would be good for us to film.

/5/17 - In todays lesson we went up to the Artisan for the first day to film what we could, we wanted footage of the restaurant both empty and busy so that we could get some good shots of the scenery and then people in that environment. We set up the camera on a tripod and experimented with some slow panning shots of the whole restaurant, we also tried out the manual focus on the camera and how it look for shots to start out of focus, then be brought into focus which looks very profession in some shots we took.

/5/17 - We started by looking over the clips we filmed the previous week and seeing how steady the shots were. Most of the shots we took were very good although some were a little bit too shaky to make it into the final presentations day video. We went back up to the restaurant so w could film a little more now that there were some more customers than last week, so we filmed a few different shots of the busy table and we also got permission to go into the kitchen and filmed the chef's cooking food and sorting out the plates and cutlery for guests booked in later. We got good focus shots of the plates of food they were preparing, and a some panning shots of the whole kitchen and the staff.

/5/17 - Even though we didn't have everything we needed yet, we started editing the footage we had so far, and getting together music that we think will fit the mood of a restaurant themed video.
